The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both agencies during an official ceremony attended by top government officials and regulatory leaders.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Mojisola Adeyeye, described the agreement as a major step toward better cooperation between the two agencies. She said the deal would improve information sharing, investigations, and regulatory coordination while helping to reduce overlapping duties between both institutions.

According to her, the collaboration is designed to create stronger systems that will better protect Nigerians from unsafe products and unfair market practices.

“This MoU provides a framework for synergy, cooperation and information sharing in carrying out our responsibilities,” Adeyeye said during the signing ceremony.

On his part, the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, Tunji Bello, praised NAFDAC’s leadership and described the agreement as a deliberate move to ensure more coordinated regulation in Nigeria’s consumer market.

He said the partnership would help both agencies respond more effectively to issues affecting consumers and public interest.

“The agreement represents a strategic effort toward coordinated regulation and consumer protection,” Bello stated.

Officials said the MoU will last for an initial four-year period, with an option for renewal after expiration. The agreement is also expected to create long-term mechanisms for collaboration between both agencies in areas linked to consumer safety, public health, and market regulation.
