Reports on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 said Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo had died at the age of 40, with colleagues in the industry posting messages of grief and disbelief.
The Nation reported that Mofe Duncan wrote, “Oh Alex! Oh dear God, why?” while Bolanle Ninalowo prayed for Ekubo’s family and for everyone affected by the news.
Godwin Nnadiekwe also reacted, describing the loss as hard to take and calling Ekubo a rare talent. The report did not state a cause of death. The Nation added that Ekubo’s last social media post was in December 2024, shortly after his engagement was called off. In a separate 2024 post, Ekubo wrote, “The most important thing in the world is family & love,” a line now drawing fresh attention.
