In Lagos State, a portion of the road that connects the Ikotun roundabout to Ejigbo and other nearby settlements has fallen.
The road near to a canal fell in after the storm on Saturday, September 16, Bendelnews discovered.
Since the destruction, motorists have had to constantly live in terror of an approaching accident brought on by the section's total collapse.
Our journalist who visited the area on Tuesday found that the extent of the devastation had made the route all but impassable.
Drivers on the route could be seen squeezing into the one available lane as they alternated in it due to the damage.
A local by the name of Ayoola claimed that the road was in better shape before the erosion caused by the canal started to damage it. The damage has been happening for a long time.
The roads were also not well maintained because they were built over a canal. In addition, if the maintenance had been performed, it wouldn't have come to this. As a result, it sustained increasing damage during the wet season until it finally collapsed.
A different resident, Idowu Sanusi, alleged that despite multiple complaints being made to the government on both the local and state levels, the road had not been maintained.
Due to the collapsed road, there had been traffic congestion in the neighborhood, especially in the morning rush.
The Lagos Ministry of Works' director of media and publicity, Shina Odunuga, denied being aware of the situation when questioned about it.
