English Premier League side Chelsea FC have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior after just three months in charge, following a poor run of results that left the club struggling in the league.Read original
The decision was confirmed on Wednesday after a series of disappointing performances, including a heavy 3–0 defeat to Brighton. The loss extended Chelsea’s poor form, with the team suffering multiple defeats in recent matches and failing to score in several games.
Rosenior, who was appointed in January on a long-term deal, managed just over 100 days at the club. Despite an early positive start, results quickly declined, leaving Chelsea outside key European qualification positions.
In a brief statement, the club said the decision was necessary due to “unsatisfactory results and performances,” adding that it was not taken lightly.
Speaking after one of the defeats before his dismissal, Rosenior admitted the team fell short of expectations. He described the performance as “unacceptable in every area” and apologised to supporters for the result.
Chelsea have now appointed assistant coach Calum McFarlane as interim manager until the end of the season, as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement.
The development adds to Chelsea’s recent managerial instability, with the club continuing a pattern of short managerial tenures in recent years. Attention now turns to whether the team can recover before the end of the campaign.
