The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, described the viral report as false and malicious, warning that it was designed to incite fear and spark religious tension.
The statement clarified that the post originated from a Facebook user identified as “Lionman Lioni,” who alleged that the CAN chairman had been killed. Nguroje stressed that the claim is completely unfounded and has no basis in reality.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has confirmed that no such incident has occurred anywhere in Adamawa State.
He called on the public to disregard the misleading information and verify news from reliable sources before sharing.
“The Command is committed to maintaining peace and order across the state. We have already launched an investigation to identify those behind the false report and ensure they face the law,” the statement added.
The Police further assured residents that security agencies remain vigilant and dedicated to sustaining harmony among communities in Adamawa.
