The Emir of Kano, His Highness Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, PhD, CON, today paid a solemn condolence visit to the family of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, at their residence in Kaduna.

The visit was part of the Emir’s personal expression of grief and solidarity following the passing of the elder statesman, whose death has been met with deep sorrow across the nation and beyond.

During the visit, Emir Sanusi offered heartfelt prayers for the repose of the soul of the late president. He prayed for Allah's mercy and forgiveness upon Buhari, asking the Almighty (SWT) to grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus — the highest level of paradise in Islamic belief. He also prayed that the family be granted strength, patience, and peace during this period of mourning.

Speaking to family members and close associates gathered at the residence, the Emir described Buhari as a man of unwavering integrity, deep faith, and tireless service to the nation. He highlighted the former president's contributions to Nigeria, both as a military leader and as a democratically elected head of state.

“President Buhari’s legacy is one of commitment to discipline, national unity, and public service,” the Emir said. “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, accept his deeds and reward him with eternal rest.”

The condolence visit was marked by an atmosphere of reflection and reverence, with dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers also present to offer support to the grieving family.

The former president, Muhammadu Buhari, passed away recently at the age of 82, prompting a wave of tributes from national and international figures. He served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1983 to 1985 and returned to office as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.

The Emir’s visit highlights the deep respect shared between the Kano royal family and the Buhari household, as well as the cultural and spiritual importance of condolence in times of loss.
