JUST IN: Monarch Of Kano Killed By Bandits

Dahiru Abba, the village chief of Maigari in Kano Atate's Rimin Gado Local Government Area, was shot and killed.

"This  happened about 2am," Maigari stated. They came and carried out their plan. We are currently getting ready to bury him.

He claimed that before starting to shoot, the assailants broke into the monarch's home and beat him.

He indicated that the funeral service would be held on Sunday morning at his home in Maigari village.

Considering the high level of unrest in the North West region, Kano has been rather calm.
