The Prince of Wales sent the Aston Villa team a note of support, according to manager Steven Gerrard of the team.

After Friday's 1-0 Premier League victory over Southampton for Aston Villa, Gerrard remarked in his post-game news conference, "He messaged the club throughout the week, and it says everything about what he thinks about this club."
"I was definitely surprised by that. He is deeply entangled in Villa. It's pretty remarkable that he could message in his current predicament.
Gerrard said, "I'm sure he'll be happy for us to reward that [Prince William's message] with a result and clean sheet. It was something along the lines of 'would love to be there'.
