There is no directive to cancel or postpone sporting events this weekend due to the passing of the Queen, the UK government said in a statement published on Friday morning.
They have, however, given each organization the authority to decide whether or not matches will go place.
In order to decide on the strategy for the remainder of this weekend's schedule, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport conducted a conference call with representatives from all major sports at 9:30 am. They made it clear they would not be outlawing sports in this call.
However no sporting events should be held in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who died quietly at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon, according to Julian Knight, chair of the DCMS Select Committee, who also noted that it is up to individual governing bodies.
