A statement from the Premier League read, "as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we have decided to postpone this weekend's fixtures.

There was a formal announcement made about this on Friday morning.

"We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty's long and unwavering service to our country," said Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters.

"As our longest-reigning monarch, she has been a source of inspiration and her life of service has left an incredible legacy.

We share the sorrow of the millions of people all over the world who held her in high esteem and are shocked and saddened by the news of her death.

We will provide additional information in the future about Premier League games scheduled during the period of mourning.
