Bayelsa Utd advanced to the CAF Champions League after a victory over Darkoa Ladies of Ghana.

 


Bayelsa United, the Nigerian champions, defeated Ampem Darkoa Ladies by a score of 3-0 in the WAFU B playoff final to earn a spot in the CAF Women's Champions League.

After playing to a scoreless draw in the opening round of group play, these two squads met again in the knockout round.

All three goals in this Yammousoukro matchup came in the opening period.

In the 11th minute, Nigerian Women's team forward Miracle Joseph scored the game's first goal.

With 19 minutes gone, Falconets striker Flourish Sabastine extended the lead, and three minutes before halftime, Falconets midfielder Chinyere Igbomalu made it 3-0.


For the time being, the title was contested by the Bayelsa Queens.

Rivers Angels participated in the first CAF Women's Champions League last year, however they were eliminated in the group round.

The South African team Mamelodi Sundowns triumphed in the tournament.
