Due to an abdominal complaint, Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from Wimbledon.
As a result, the Spaniard will not participate in the semifinal matchup with Nick Kyrgios.
Despite having abdominal pain, Nadal persevered to defeat Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinal in five sets.
Then he said he would consult a doctor before deciding whether or not to play Kyrgios in the semi-finals on Friday.
"Unfortunately, as you can probably guess, I'm here because I've had to withdraw from the competition.
"As everyone could see yesterday, I had been experiencing abdominal pain, and I knew something wasn't right there. I do really have a muscle tear, and the communication came too late.
"Even if I try to keep going through my career, I think it doesn't make sense to go, I was thinking about the decision to make the entire day. It's a very difficult situation, but it's clear that the injury will only worsen if I continue playing, Nadal stated at a press conference.
