The Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) selection of Funke Akindele as its deputy governorship candidate, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagso State, highlights the PDP's lack of sincerity.
This was said in a statement by the party's spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, after Funke Akindele announced her debut into politics.
By "offering political neophytes who have absolutely nothing to add to the table their electoral tickets," he claimed that the PDP was trivalizing the election.
If they could give a member who crossed the carpet a few days before their primaries the governorship ticket and then went to the make-believe industry to fetch a deputy, it also indicates a lack of depth in the party when it comes to quality candidates to put forward for elections, the author continued.
He emphasised that governance was not a carnival but rather a serious business.
"I found it amusing to read that the deputy governorship candidate announced she would put her acting career on hold to focus on the elections, the outcome of which is very clear.
Because she has recently been in the headlines for all the negative reasons, "I assume she is suspending a lot more," he continued.
He decided that Lagos residents wouldn't let the state's governance become an unnecessary experiment.
