According to reports, the bandits have relocated the 22 Abuja farmers who were kidnapped in the Rafin-Daji community, Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The victims were formerly housed in a government reserve forest near the settlements of Lafiya, Kpada, and Duma in the Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.
The bandits relocated following a gunfight with the vigilante last Friday, a source told DAILY POST.
The source claims that after mobilising returning to the jungle on Saturday but failing to run into the robbers, the vigilante learned of the criminals' new position along with their hostages.
He informed them that they were still looking for the bandits in the bush.
According to DAILY POST, when attempting to rescue 22 kidnapped victims at the Rafin-Daji hamlet recently, five vigilante members were killed and six others were injured when the bandits set them up for an ambush.
The State's police spokesperson, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, was unable to answer calls placed to his phone.
