EPL: I respect the fans and team but 60 to 70 per cent of Senegalese want me to leave Liverpool? I’ll do what they want-Sadio Mane.

Sadio Mane, the Liverpool forward, has clarified his remarks regarding his future at Anfield.

Mane recently stated that 70% of Senegalese people want him to leave Liverpool, and that he intends to do so.

The former Southampton star, who has been linked with Bayern Munich, stated, "I appreciate the supporters and team, but 60 to 70% of Senegalese want me to leave Liverpool?" I'll do what they want," he told reporters on international duty with Senegal.

On Friday, while on international duty with the Senegal national team, he told reporters, "I'll do whatever they want."

His remarks sparked outrage, especially as he has become a popular figure at Liverpool in the last six years.

The 30-year-old has since clarified what he meant, stating that he was merely making light-hearted statements that he didn't expect to be taken seriously.

After previously hinting that he might quit Liverpool this summer to appease the majority of Senegalese people, he emphasised that he didn't mean to insult Liverpool fans.

According to journalist Cissokho Sahel, Mane stated, "I spoke yesterday while joking with a bit of humour and it went everywhere.

"I believe we'll come to a halt there." Liverpool is a team that I admire greatly. Since the beginning, the fans have adopted me. We'll see what happens in the future.

Mane's future at Liverpool may be uncertain, but it did not stop him from scoring a hat-trick for Senegal against Benin in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade on Saturday.
