Abductors have released two daughters of Zakari Umaru-Kigbu, the recently deceased former Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC).
According to the DAILY POST, gunmen stormed the former Commissioner's home in Azuba Bashayi, Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, and kidnapped his children after killing him.
On Wednesday, Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the victims' release.
The children were rescued by security officers after tremendous pressure was applied to the kidnappers who were hiding around a mountain in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State, according to the PPRO.
He confirmed that the two girls were reunited with their families following a medical examination at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, but he could not confirm whether the ransom was paid.
However, according to sources, the abductors demanded N30 million in ransom before the girls could be freed.
