In the run-up to the 2023 elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering extending the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) programme.
Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, hinted at this at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos on Saturday.
Yakubu attended a concert co-organized by Yiaga Africa and the European Union (EU) to encourage young people to register to vote (PVC).
Young Nigerians were advised by INEC's electoral chief that the commission's decision will be made public soon.
"Your desires have been heard loud and clear. We will contact you regarding the extension of your CVR registration as soon as possible.
"Please confirm that you will register, choose your PVCs, and vote." He said, "I also assure you that your vote will be counted."
The INEC acknowledged the rise in voter registration on Friday.
Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner, announced the deployment of over 200 machines to the South-East states of Lagos and Kano.
Nigerians are still pleading with the commission to extend the registration period, which is set to expire on June 30.
