Thousands of supporters greeted Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Monday as he went on a thank-you tour following the APC governorship primary election in the state.
Rev. Fr Alia, who won the APC governorship ticket in the state, expressed gratitude to his supporters for ensuring his win in the party's primary poll.
After polling 7,000 votes in the direct primary election, Fr Alia defeated Barnabas Gemade, the party's previous national chairman, and Mike Aondoakaa, the former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
The priest was suspended by the Catholic Diocese of Gboko prior to the election for his involvement in political politics.
