The federal executive council has approved a 20% pay raise for police officers.
In a unanimous decision, the Federal Executive Council authorised a 20 percent rise in salary for officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
After the Federal Executive Council meeting presided
over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 15, the Minister of
Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, informed State House Correspondents of the
development.
According to Dingyadi, the decision to promote
officers was made in order to boost the morale of police officers across the
country. He explained that the decision was made as a result of the issues
raised during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
It is anticipated that the hike will take effect in
January 2022.
