Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a well-known Islamic scholar, has revealed
that something prompted bandits to begin murdering their captives.
According to Gumi, the robbers were out to avenge the
military's bombings on their family members.
The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar said the bandits were
victims seeking justice at a retreat on inclusive security held by the Global
Peace Foundation and Vision Africa in Abuja.
He stressed the importance of the federal government
meeting with bandits as soon as possible before they become uncontrollable.
Gumi advises Buhari on how to put an end to banditry
and herdsmen's atrocities.
"We all know that bandits don't kill people at
first," Gumi explained. They simply abduct individuals for the purpose of
obtaining money, but something has transformed them into a Frankenstein monster
who kills people for the sheer fun of it."
Gumi, a well-known supporter of bandits, recently
announced that he would no longer meet with them.
