IndigenousPeople of Biafra, or IPOB, has declared the 1st of October, 2021, as a sit-at-home protest in honor of Nigeria's independence day.

Chika Edoziem, an IPOB executive, stated this on Friday during a radio interview.

On October 1, the separatist group will lock down the entire South-East region, according to Edoziem, who also requested that all Nigerian flags be removed from "Biafra territories.

“On the 1st of October, Biafra land declared total shutdown,” he said. On October 1st, Nigerian Independence Day, there will be no movement in Biafra land. All Nigerian flags flying anywhere in Biafra land must be taken down starting tonight; banks are spelled.

“The leadership of the IPOB will communicate directly with banks and explain why they must peacefully bring down the flag. Otherwise, we do things our own way.”

Following his arrest in Kenya and repatriation to Nigeria, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has been detained by the Department of Security Services since the third week of June.
