Oodua Peoples Congress; Oyo State chapter, led by Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, has declared that an unexpected visit by an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, to Igboho, a town in Oyo State, is an affront to the entire Yoruba nation.

Speaking to journalists over the weekend, Rotimi Olumo, the coordinator of the OPC in Oyo State, said Gumi had overstepped his boundaries and warned him to stay away from the entire South-Western region of Yoruba land.

Gumi's visit, according to Olumo, poses a significant security threat to the entire Yoruba nation because they see no reason or interest in it other than to mock the people of the South West.

He claimed that Gumi and his entourage's verbal attack on Igboho was a clear indication that they were there to mock and provoke Yoruba people in their domain, which the OPC condemned.

Yoruba Nation did not require the help of someone like Gumi to protect "our people" because adequate security measures had been put in place. It should be remembered that Olumo was the one who raised the alarm about bandit plans to invade Igangan and other parts of Ibarapa, which eventually happened, and that Gumi's visit to Igboho was reason for worry.

People of the entire South-West to be vigilant, saying Gumi could not be trusted.
Gumi's visit to the region, according to the OPC, was suspicious, as it was suggested that he could have come as a spy for bandits.

The Oyo State executive of the OPC, according to Olumo, reaffirmed their unwavering faith in Iba Gani Adams' leadership and praised his efforts for the way he has handled the affairs of his office as the Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land and the General Overseer of the OPC, as well as the security of the people of the entire South West.

OPC, led by Iba Gani Adams, is prepared for any eventuality in the region, and that the area is now being closely monitored for any infiltration by bandits or other disreputable indicators.

The OPC also praised the South-West Governors for their unwavering efforts to keep the region peaceful.he went on to say that OPC members are law-abiding citizens who are ready to work and operate within the confines of the law, as well as collaborate with all security agencies, to ensure the safety of people and property in the South West.

Olumo also warned Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai that he cannot decide the issue of Fulani herdsmen on behalf of the Yoruba people. We are battle-ready to oppose them,” he said. Our fatherland is Yoruba land. Oyo OPC is fully prepared to oppose them.
