Organ harvesting: Ohanaeze sacks Ekweremadu from Imeobi, demands Senate recall

The arrest of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, by British police on suspicion of harvesting children's organs has been dubbed the height of outrage against humanity by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo sociocultural group.

The group demanded that the couple be permitted to take responsibility for their conduct in the UK.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Mr. and Mrs. Ekweremadu were accused of conspiring to set up and enable another person's travel with the intention of exploitation, specifically organ harvesting.

Following their Thursday afternoon appearance before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court, they were also denied bail.

"The Igbo leadership will strip him of all titles and privileges accorded to him as an ImeObi member (the apex decision-making organ of Ohanaeze), if he is found guilty of this grave allegations," Ohanaeze said in a statement signed and forwarded to DAILY POST by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

If he is ultimately found guilty, "Ohanaeze Ndigbo also calls on the good people of Enugu West Senatorial zone to start the process of his recall from the Senate. Strong language is used to condemn this abomination, and Ekweremadu must face severe penalties.

We question if he can recover from the vile accusations, which could put an end to his political career as the senator representing Enugu West, the statement continued.
