Here are 10 celebrity stories making headlines as of Sunday, October 11, 2026.
1. Ayra Starr Makes History With NFL Halftime Show Appearance in London
Nigerian singer Ayra Starr is in the spotlight after being billed to headline the halftime entertainment at an NFL international game in London on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
According to a report published by TheCable Lifestyle on October 10, the Grammy-nominated singer is set to become the first African artiste to headline an NFL halftime show.
The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars is scheduled to take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Ahead of the performance, Ayra Starr spoke to BBC Newsbeat about the significance of the opportunity, describing the platform as a message in itself. She also stressed the responsibility artistes have to represent their culture and the people who listen to their music.
The singer disclosed that preparations were ongoing and confirmed that her performance would feature songs from her album Starrgirl, which was released in August 2026.
Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, rose to prominence in 2021 following the success of her hit song Bloody Samaritan. She subsequently strengthened her position in Afrobeats with projects including 19 & Dangerous and The Year I Turned 21.
Her appearance at the NFL event represents another opportunity to introduce African music to a broader international audience.
The performance is particularly significant for Nigerian entertainment because the NFL attracts a global audience, giving African musicians access to a major sporting and entertainment platform.
2. Regina Daniels Celebrates 25th Birthday Amid Health-Related Headlines
Nollywood actress Regina Daniels is among the Nigerian celebrities attracting attention following reports about her 25th birthday celebration and health challenges.
Reports published by Premium Times and TheCable Lifestyle on October 10 and 11, 2026, respectively, focused on the actress's birthday and her appearance in a wheelchair.
The development has drawn public interest because Daniels is a well-known figure in Nollywood whose personal life frequently attracts attention on social media.
Daniels began acting as a child and went on to establish herself as one of the recognisable faces in the Nigerian movie industry. She has featured in numerous films and built a substantial following through her acting career and online presence.
Her marriage to politician Ned Nwoko has also kept her in the public eye, particularly during periods when developments involving the couple generate widespread discussion.
However, the appearance of an individual in a wheelchair does not, by itself, establish a medical diagnosis or explain the cause of a health problem. Details about the nature and severity of Daniels' reported health challenges should therefore be attributed to her own statements or reliable reporting rather than speculation.
The birthday coverage has renewed interest in the actress's personal circumstances, while also highlighting the importance of respecting privacy when discussing a public figure's health.
3. Adedibu Family, Filmmaker Clash Over Alleged Unauthorised Biopic
A dispute involving the family of the late Nigerian politician Lamidi Adedibu and a filmmaker is one of the major Nollywood-related stories making headlines on October 11.
Premium Times and TheCable Lifestyle reported that the Adedibu family and filmmaker Oloketuyi are involved in a disagreement concerning a biographical film that the family considers unauthorised.
According to the reports, the filmmaker rejected a demand for ₦500 million in connection with the dispute.
The disagreement raises questions about how filmmakers can portray the lives of prominent public figures, particularly when the people being depicted are deceased and their relatives object to the production.
Biographical films often draw on historical events, public records, interviews and personal accounts to tell the stories of influential people. However, disagreements can arise over the use of personal material, the accuracy of a portrayal, consent and the commercial use of a person's identity.
The Adedibu controversy has attracted attention because of the political figure's prominence and the financial amount mentioned in reports.
It is important to distinguish the family's objections from any final legal determination. The existence of a demand or disagreement does not, by itself, establish that a filmmaker has committed an offence or that either party has won a legal case.
The dispute could become a significant talking point within Nigeria's film industry as filmmakers continue exploring stories about influential political and public figures.
4. Victor AD Apologises to Tiwa Savage
Nigerian singer Victor AD is also attracting attention after reports emerged on October 11 that he apologised to fellow singer Tiwa Savage.
TheCable Lifestyle listed the development among its latest entertainment headlines, with the singer's apology becoming a subject of public interest.
Victor AD is known for songs including Wetin We Gain, which helped establish his name in the Nigerian music industry. Tiwa Savage, meanwhile, is one of Afrobeats' prominent female performers, with an international career spanning music releases, collaborations and live performances.
Whenever two established artistes become involved in a public disagreement or exchange, fans often look for clarification about what happened, what prompted the development and whether the matter has been resolved.
An apology can signal an effort to address a disagreement, but its meaning depends on the circumstances and the people involved.
At the time of this roundup, the available headline does not provide enough detail to establish the full background of the apology, including the precise remarks or incident that prompted it. It would therefore be misleading to invent a dispute or attribute unverified statements to either singer.
The story remains relevant to Nigerian entertainment audiences because both musicians have established fan bases and significant influence within Afrobeats.
5. Zlatan and Davita Announce Date for Wedding Celebrations
Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile and his partner, Davita, are in the entertainment spotlight following the announcement of their wedding celebration date.
The Eagle Online reported on October 9, 2026, that the couple shared the date in a video posted on Instagram the previous Thursday night.
The announcement gave October 24, 2026, as the date for their wedding celebrations.
The news has generated interest among fans who follow Zlatan's music career and personal life.
Zlatan, whose music is associated with street-pop and contemporary Afrobeats, rose to national prominence with songs such as Zanku (Leg Work). He has since released additional projects and collaborated with other Nigerian artistes.
Wedding announcements involving popular musicians often attract attention because fans want to know when the ceremony will take place, who may attend and whether the couple will share further details about the event.
However, the confirmed information in the cited report is the date announced by the couple. Details such as the venue, guest list and programme should not be treated as confirmed unless the couple or a reliable source releases them.
With October 24 approaching, the announcement is likely to remain a talking point among fans interested in the rapper's life outside music.
