EPL: Jordan Henderson Stuns Fans With 2 Goals and an Assist as Chelsea Thrash Bournemouth 5-1

Jordan Henderson delivered a remarkable performance on Saturday afternoon, scoring twice and providing an assist as Chelsea secured an emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

The 36-year-old midfielder was at the heart of Chelsea’s dominant display, scoring the opening goal, setting up another shortly afterwards and completing his outstanding performance with a superb free-kick in the second half.Read original

Chelsea made a flying start, breaking the deadlock just 65 seconds after kick-off. Cole Palmer, who had extended his contract until mid-2034 earlier in the day, dribbled into the penalty area before pulling the ball back for Henderson.

The experienced midfielder wasted no time, firing a first-time effort that went in off the inside of the far post to give the home side an early lead.

Chelsea doubled their advantage barely two minutes later, with Henderson turning provider. His pass found Morgan Rogers near the edge of the penalty area, and the midfielder's shot took a deflection off Bournemouth defender António Silva before finding the back of the net.

The goal was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) over a possible offside involving João Pedro, but the decision stood.

Henderson had therefore recorded a goal and an assist within two minutes and 29 seconds. According to Opta, only Emile Heskey had achieved the same combination in a shorter period in Premier League history.

The Chelsea midfielder nearly scored again in the 23rd minute, but his delicate effort from outside the box took a deflection and narrowly missed the target.

Bournemouth attempted to fight their way back into the contest, with Rayan missing a promising opportunity from a difficult angle. The visitors also found Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez difficult to beat, as he made important saves to preserve his team's two-goal advantage before the interval.

Chelsea Extend Their Lead After Half-Time

Chelsea wasted little time adding to their advantage after the restart, scoring their third goal just 30 seconds into the second half.

Pedro Neto took advantage of an error by Silva and delivered a low pass to João Pedro, who finished emphatically to make it 3-0.

Bournemouth responded in the 51st minute when Evanilson blocked a clearance from Moisés Caicedo into the net from close range, reducing the deficit to 3-1.

The goal gave the visitors renewed confidence, and they enjoyed a spell of pressure as Chelsea struggled to regain control of the match.

However, João Pedro ended Bournemouth's hopes of mounting a comeback in the 67th minute. The Brazilian striker converted a close-range cross from Pep Chavarría to restore Chelsea's three-goal advantage at 4-1.

Henderson Completes a Memorable Performance

The standout moment arrived when Henderson stepped forward to take a free-kick just outside the penalty area.

The midfielder curled the ball brilliantly into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with little chance and sealing Chelsea's 5-1 victory.

His second goal capped an exceptional individual performance that combined goalscoring, creativity and experience.

At 36 years and 115 days old, Henderson also became Chelsea's oldest-ever player to be directly involved in at least three goals in a single Premier League match, according to the report.

Chelsea's convincing victory was further notable because Jorrel Hato remained an unused substitute throughout the encounter, while Bournemouth continued to miss the injured Justin Kluivert.

For Henderson, the match was a memorable occasion, with his two goals and assist helping Chelsea produce one of their most emphatic performances of the campaign.
