The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Basic Training School Batch 39, with eligible Nigerians invited to apply for enlistment into the service.

Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 Requirements
The recruitment exercise is open to Nigerian citizens who meet the stated eligibility conditions.
Applicants must possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and must meet the minimum height requirements of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.
Candidates are also required to be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must satisfy the Nigerian Navy's medical and employment standards.
Applicants must not have previous convictions on criminal grounds by a court of law.
Age Requirements for Applicants
The Nigerian Navy has specified different age requirements depending on the educational qualification or category under which an applicant is applying.
Candidates applying with O'Level/SSCE results must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
Such applicants must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB. The examination results must not be older than 2020.
Applicants with OND/NCE qualifications must generally be between 18 and 26 years old as of December 31, 2026.
However, candidates applying for Chaplain/Imam Assistant and Drivers/Mechanic positions can be up to 28 years old.
Tradesmen and Women Requirements
The recruitment exercise also provides opportunities for applicants with trade skills.
Candidates applying for trade categories must possess relevant Trade Test certificates and at least four passes in other subjects, including English Language, in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB.

Tailoring
Carpentry
Plumbing
Masonry
Welding
Electrical work
Painting
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology
Applicants seeking positions in professions allied to medicine are required to possess an ND qualification from recognised training institutions in Nigeria as well as a valid practising licence.
Sportsmen and women are also required to provide evidence of their sporting experience, including relevant certificates and medals.

The Nigerian Navy said applicants should print certain documents after successfully completing their online applications.

Guarantor's Certification Form
The Local Government Attestation Form is expected to be signed by an appropriate military officer, police officer or Local Government Chairman, in line with the stated requirements.
English Language Requirement
Applicants must be able to communicate proficiently in English Language.
The Navy warned that inability to communicate in basic English could lead to disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
Only one valid application is permitted from each applicant, while multiple online applications will result in disqualification.
What Successful Applicants Will Receive
According to the recruitment notice, successful candidates will undergo basic military training.
Upon completion of the training, successful candidates will be recruited into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen.
The date and venue for the recruitment examination will be communicated to applicants in due course.
