The update was disclosed on Monday by Ellis Visa Sponsors, a US immigration law firm that tracks more than 180,000 employers across the United States. The firm's latest data identified the companies sponsoring the highest number of H-1B visas in 2026.
According to the publication, the H-1B visa allows US employers to hire highly skilled foreign professionals for specialised positions that usually require at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
Despite the programme's annual visa limit, thousands of international professionals continue to receive sponsorship each year from leading employers across different industries.
Explaining how the programme works, Ellis Visa Sponsors said the process may appear difficult because of strict immigration rules and documentation requirements.
"Getting U.S. visa sponsorship can feel complicated, especially if you're not sure where to start. The rules are detailed, the paperwork is strict, and mistakes can lead to delays or denials."
The law firm added that its guide was designed to help applicants understand the process more clearly.
"This guide breaks down visa sponsorship in simple terms—what it is, who qualifies, and what steps are involved—so you can make informed decisions with confidence."
It further explained that a US visa sponsor can either be an American employer or an eligible family member, depending on the immigration category.
"For employment-based sponsorship, the employer agrees to comply with U.S. immigration laws, including requirements set by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Labor (DOL)."
According to the firm's latest rankings, the top 10 H-1B visa sponsoring companies in 2026 are:
Google
Amazon
Microsoft
Ernst & Young (EY)
Deloitte Consulting
Accenture
Apple
Intel
IBM
Meta
The publication also outlined the basic requirements for workers seeking sponsorship. Applicants must have a genuine job offer from a US employer, qualify for a position eligible under the visa category, possess the required educational qualifications or specialised experience, and, where applicable, demonstrate non-immigrant intent.
The immigration firm also explained the application process for employers and sponsored workers.
The first stage requires employers to register applicants during the H-1B electronic lottery period by paying a $215 registration fee and submitting identification documents, including the applicant's passport details.
Candidates selected through the lottery then move to the next stage, where employers file a Labour Condition Application (LCA) with the US Department of Labor for approval.
Once the LCA is certified, employers submit Form I-129, also known as the Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), alongside supporting documents and the required filing fees.
For applicants outside the United States, the final stage involves completing the online DS-160 visa application, paying the visa fee, and attending an interview at a US embassy or consulate.
Applicants are expected to present a valid passport, DS-160 confirmation page, approved I-129 petition, I-797 approval notice, payment receipts and passport photographs that meet US Department of State specifications during the interview.
The H-1B visa remains one of the most popular employment routes for highly skilled foreign professionals hoping to build careers in the United States, particularly in technology, engineering, consulting and other specialised fields.continue reading..
