Nigerian singer Qing Madi has once again opened up about her ongoing dispute with her former record label and management team, revealing new details about her experience as a young artist in the music industry.
During a recent livestream, the fast-rising star disclosed that she was just 16 years old when she signed her recording contract. She also claimed that she later faced legal action from the label but eventually emerged victorious in court.
Speaking directly to fans, Qing Madi alleged that efforts are still being made to frustrate her career despite her success. According to her, preparations for an upcoming tour were affected after her former manager allegedly contacted sponsors and informed them that she would not participate in the events.
"There is so much I want to say," Qing Madi said during the livestream. "But I have chosen to focus on my music. These people are trying to bring me down after all the hard work I've put in."
The singer, known for several hit songs, thanked supporters who have continued streaming and promoting her music. She noted that their support has helped her career grow even without significant funding for promotion or advertising.
Qing Madi also accused her former management of exercising excessive control over her personal and professional life while she was signed to them. According to her, music was the only area where she had some level of authority.
She further claimed that she was often made to wear outfits she did not feel comfortable in, including crop tops that she said did not reflect her personal style.
"They made me wear things I didn't like," she stated. "At that time, I felt like I had no choice."
Despite the challenges, the singer insisted she would continue speaking out and defending herself.
"No one will silence me," Qing Madi said. "No matter what they do, I will keep standing up for myself."
Her comments come months after she publicly accused the label of attempting to treat her in a manner similar to the highly publicized contract dispute involving singer Cynthia Morgan.
The allegations have not yet received a public response from the individuals mentioned by Qing Madi.
As the controversy continues, fans are closely watching developments while the singer remains focused on her music career and planned performances.
