FDA Set to Crack Down on Popular Peptides as Doctors Raise Fresh Health Concerns

Men’s Health reports that the FDA is considering removing part of a list of 19 synthetic peptides from its Category 2 Bulk Substances List, a move linked to safety concerns.
The review is set to look at seven synthetic peptides in July 2026, with another five due in 2027. The guide also explains that peptides are short chains of amino acids, while the synthetic versions are usually delivered by spray or injection.

A Stony Brook Medicine expert, Sritha Rajupet, said, “Most of these peptides still lack high-quality human data,” while also warning that many of the therapies remain experimental.

Another doctor, Kent Bradley, said many people using peptides may have “exhausted conventional options,” but added that some are buying them without proper quality checks and are acting on social media advice.
