The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its non-combat operations in Borno State through a large-scale medical outreach carried out by the 105 Composite Group Medical Centre at the NAF Base in Maiduguri.
The three-day humanitarian programme was organised as part of the 2026 Nurses Week celebration and focused on health awareness, hygiene education, and community support across parts of the state.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the initiative reflects the Air Force’s commitment to building stronger ties with civilians while supporting peace and security efforts in the North-East.
Representing the Air Force leadership at the event, Group Captain KO Nwachukwu praised military nurses for working under difficult operational conditions.
According to him, the medical personnel have continued to show professionalism and dedication in serving both military officers and civilians in conflict-affected areas.
“NAF nurses have continued to demonstrate sacrifice, discipline, and commitment in delivering healthcare services within operational environments,” Nwachukwu said during the programme.
As part of the outreach, the medical team carried out public awareness rallies and health talks focusing on hypertension, HIV prevention, personal hygiene, and healthy living practices.
The team also visited Pompomari Primary and Junior Secondary School in Maiduguri, where students received lessons on sanitation and proper handwashing amid ongoing cholera prevention campaigns in Borno State.
During the visit, sanitary pads, disinfectants, liquid soap, and other hygiene materials were distributed to students and members of the community.
Officials from the Borno State Ministry of Health and other healthcare agencies attended the event, highlighting growing cooperation between the Nigerian Air Force and public institutions in promoting public health and community trust.
The Air Force said the outreach forms part of its broader people-focused strategy aimed at supporting counter-insurgency operations through humanitarian services, healthcare support, and stronger civilian relationships in the region.
