Reports indicate that the US State Department will issue limited-edition passports as part of the country’s 2026 celebrations. The commemorative documents are expected to feature the image of President Donald Trump prominently on the inside cover.
According to officials, the design includes Trump’s portrait placed alongside elements of American history. These include text from the Declaration of Independence and the national flag, with his signature displayed in gold.
Another section of the passport will carry a well-known historical painting showing the signing of the Declaration of Independence, linking the present administration to the country’s founding moment.
A spokesperson for the State Department, Tommy Pigott, confirmed the development, stating that the commemorative passports will maintain all standard security features despite the design changes.
Authorities also clarified that the passports will be issued in limited numbers and are part of broader activities planned for the anniversary, which will be marked on July 4, 2026.
The move comes amid a wider push to incorporate symbolic elements tied to the presidency into national commemorations. However, it remains unclear whether applicants will have the option to request standard versions instead of the commemorative edition.
