The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced a 10-day extension of the pause on possible military strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure.
Trump made this known on Thursday via a post on Truth Social, stating that the decision followed a request from the Iranian government. The new deadline for the pause is now set for Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
According to the president, discussions between the United States and Iran are ongoing.
He indicated that the talks are progressing positively, despite what he described as inaccurate reports from some media outlets.
“As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days,” Trump wrote, adding that negotiations are “going very well.”
The initial pause on potential military action was due to end on Friday before the latest extension was announced.
The update came shortly after the close of financial markets on the same day, although no immediate impact on global oil prices or markets was stated at the time of reporting.
Officials on both sides have yet to release further details regarding the progress or scope of the ongoing talks.
