The event, which also featured the formal inauguration of engaged consultants for the recovery project, underscores a renewed national commitment to plugging revenue leakages and ensuring that all funds due to the Federation Account are properly remitted.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Shehu emphasized that the initiative represents more than a routine administrative procedure — it is a bold, results-driven strategy aimed at improving fiscal transparency and accountability.

“This exercise is not a routine administrative action but a deliberate, result-oriented innovation designed to strengthen fiscal governance and ensure every recoverable naira due to the Federation is transparently remitted,” he stated.

He explained that the engagement of consultants forms part of a wider strategic effort to enhance the fiscal capacity of all three tiers of government, aligning closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“In line with our constitutional responsibility and with the full support of Mr. President, the Special Adviser on Revenue, and the Executive Chairman of FIRS, this initiative for spatial recovery projects will help identify and recover unremitted revenues across sectors of the economy,” Dr. Shehu added.

Representing the FIRS Chairman, Coordinating Director Mr. Shettima Tamadi inaugurated the consultants and praised the RMAFC leadership for its foresight. He reaffirmed FIRS’s commitment to collaboration, stressing that bridging Nigeria’s revenue gap requires coordinated efforts across agencies and partners.

“Nigeria has a huge revenue gap, but with stronger collaboration between agencies and partners, we can bridge that gap and achieve sustainable fiscal growth,” Tamadi noted.

Also speaking, Secretary to the Commission, Mr. Joseph Nwaeze Okechukwu, urged the consultants to execute their duties with diligence and integrity, ensuring all recoverable revenues are promptly remitted to support national development goals. He emphasized the importance of completing the assignment within the six-month timeframe.

On behalf of the consulting firms, lead consultant Mr. Temitayo Ojeleke described the engagement as a “national call to duty” and pledged the team’s commitment to professionalism and measurable outcomes.

“We accept this assignment as partners in Nigeria’s economic renewal, ready to deliver results that will strengthen the nation’s revenue base,” Ojeleke said.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in RMAFC’s drive to enhance inter-agency synergy, boost accountability, and maximize revenue generation for the collective benefit of all Nigerians.
