The 30-year-old village chief of Marke, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, was assassinated by suspected assailants in Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
When Malam Kabiru Mohammed, the village chief of Marke who was turbaned in 2018, smelled gunmen approaching his area at around 12.30 am on Thursday, he fled through the roof's ceiling.
However, as soon as the Gunmen arrived, they sent out word to everyone in the compound, continuing their hunt for the village chief, who, together with his older brother Tukur Mohammed, had hidden inside the ceiling.
A community member who begged to remain anonymous claimed that the gunmen later found the victim and killed him before setting the house on fire.
In response to the incident, Dandamisa Ward Councilor Aminu Sani Marke stated that because the home was destroyed by fire, the late village chief's body could not be found.
He claimed that the gunmen left the area after approximately an hour of activity and took millions of naira's worth of items.
He called the Kaduna State Police Command's Police Public Relations Officer, but she did not answer, nor did she reply to his text message.
