 The internal UN memo reveals that among the nine passengers, including military personnel and a third-party contractor, six were taken by the armed group, two escaped, and one person's fate remains unclear.

The incident occurred as the aircraft faced a defect shortly after taking off from Beledweyne city in central Somalia. 

Major Hassan Ali, speaking to Reuters, mentioned that the helicopter, carrying medical supplies and intended for transporting injured soldiers from Galgaduud region, experienced difficulties during the flight.

The UN has temporarily suspended all flights in the vicinity following the incident, as mentioned in the memo. 

The situation has raised concerns about the safety of UN missions in the region, and the Somali government is yet to provide an official statement.
