The visit aims to strengthen ties between China and Africa, marking the 34th consecutive year of Chinese foreign ministers choosing Africa as their first overseas destination. 

Wang's visit is the first time in 34 years that a Chinese foreign minister begins the year in Africa. 

The trip focuses on implementing outcomes from the China-Africa Leaders’ Dialogue, discussing the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and fostering traditional China-Africa friendship and cooperation.
