The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office shared photos of the damaged building. According to NEMA, Improvised Explosives Devices (IED) caused the explosion.
The distress alert was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, prompting mobilization of response agencies to the scene behind Ace Mall in Bodija GRA.
NEMA observed it as a suspected IED explosion affecting over 20 houses. Casualty figures remain uncertain, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
