Shehu Sani, a former senator who served Kaduna Central in the eighth Senate, has pledged to support John Okafor, commonly known as Mr. Ibu, a critically ill Nollywood actor from Nigeria.
In addition to providing financial support, Sani, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship in the Kaduna State 2023 election, worked to raise awareness of the actor's condition among influential people.
The PDP leader vowed not to let him down and urged Nigerians to follow suit.
Noting that Mr. Ibu's contribution to the Nigerian film industry cannot be emphasized, the PDP leader pledged to keep his word and urged Nigerians to do the same.
Shehu Sani said in a tweet on Thursday, October 19:
“Mr Ibu is my favourite artist and Comedian. He lights up and entertains the homes of millions of Nigerians. We shall not let him down for reasons we can all collectively solve. We shall do the needful and also bring the attention of the big names to do the needful.”
The seasoned actor shared his sickness on Instagram on Wednesday, October 18, when he was recuperating in a hospital bed.
He had been in the hospital for several weeks, pleading with Nigerians for aid and money.
Ibu went on to say that if additional treatments failed, hospital doctors had threatened to amputate his limb.
Mr Ibu is my favorite artist and Comedian. He lights up and entertains the homes of millions of Nigerians. We shall not let him down for reasons we can all collectively solve. We shall do the needful and also bring the attention of the big names to do the needful.
