As she delivered her speech at the Labour conference, the shadow chancellor criticized the Conservative Party for permitting the wealthiest to engage in tax avoidance and maintaining open tax loopholes. 

While not providing specific details, there were indications of considering stricter inheritance tax regulations to generate additional revenue, as well as exploring the possibility of imposing VAT on private schools.

Reeves also took aim at Rishi Sunak for his use of private planes and helicopters for travel, pledging substantial savings through a crackdown on government expenditure.

In a noteworthy departure from the norm, Sir Mark, initially selected by George Osborne to lead the Bank of England but later a vocal Brexit critic, released a video commending Rachel Reeves as a "credible economist."

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt criticized Reeves for not addressing inflation in her speech, despite her mention of the cost of living. He also highlighted Labour's proposal of potentially increasing borrowing to support additional spending
