The Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi asserts that "a society is in risk when the rule of law is violated. 

When the rule of law is replaced by the rule of the powerful, wealthy, and mighty, Obi wrote in a lengthy post on X on Tuesday, October 24.

The Supreme Court has delayed making a decision about his appeal against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for almost twenty-four hours.

When that happens, a cult of dishonest judges and other influential people are able to trade justice as a commodity.

"A democracy exposes society to apparent hazards when its foundation is flawed justice.”

Recall that Chief Justice John Okoro, who presided over the seven-person panel hearing the appeal, had earlier assured Legit.ng that the parties involved would be informed as soon as the decision was ready.

Obi has often encouraged the supreme court to base its judgment on the realities that Nigerians must contend with and their desire for quick and positive change as citizens.

Because there are no repercussions for transgressions or unlawful conduct, the wealthy and strong can tramp on the rights of the weak, according to Obi.

"This could lay the foundation for democracy to develop into autocracy."
