Saying "sorry" for everything, according to a Nigerian woman residing in the UK, nearly led her into serious problems.
Progressoberiko, a young woman, spoke about her encounter with cultural shock while visiting another country.
She gave the example of how she purchased an item that wasn't sealed but had to return it because she already owned a replacement.
The Nigerian woman apologized for any hassles when she returned it to the store while the receptionist was inputting something on the computer.
The receptionist reportedly paused after hearing this and demanded strongly to know whether the Nigerian woman had indeed never used the product and, if not, why she was apologizing.
The Nigerian lady advises compatriots not to always reel out sorry every time as this tends to make it seem as if they’re guilty of something.
