The Department of Security Services has been invited to participate in the investigation of the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This was said in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the commissioner for information and strategy for the state of Lagos, Gbenga Omotoso.
Mohbad, a former signee for Naira Marley at Marlian Records, passed away on last Tuesday. He was 27 at the time.
The state government also sent condolences to the family and supporters of the former Marlian Records signee.
"The loss of such a talented and promising young guy who excelled in a competitive sector has left us in shock. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest and bring solace to his bereaved loved ones and friends. The sentence finishes.
"Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invited the DSS to join the investigation and broaden the dragnet with interagency cooperation and use of top-tier technology to uncover the truth," according to the Lagos police special investigative team investigating into Mohbad's death.
Sanwo-Olu has After conducting a comprehensive investigation, it was decided that everyone who might have even the tiniest connection to the incident that led to MohBad's death should be prosecuted.
In an endeavor to bring justice to the boy, his family, and the crowds of supporters, DSS has thus entered the investigation, it added.
The state administration begged anyone who could help the investigating team with crucial information that could help with the process.
"Government also appeals to the investigating team to ensure the confidentiality and protection of all witnesses who may come forward with crucial information or suggestive evidence that may assist the process," the statement continued.
The late artist's management on Monday night organized a candlelight procession and a tribute night.
Since Mohbad's passing, his lovers and friends have called for an exhaustive investigation to ascertain the reason for his dying.
On his social media sites, the late singer's management wrote that they "appreciate the outpouring of love from Fans across the world to the ones who've organized events in their communities as a way to honor and pay respect to our shining light we say thank you."
