The mountainous palace where the First-Class Royal father and his wife were held captive was taken by the attackers to an unknown location.
According to a community resident who requested anonymity, the incident happened at 10 p.m., after most people had gone to sleep in their respective homes.
"The sad incident happened around ten o'clock," he recalled. The Chief and his wife were taken hostage by the gunmen who arrived in large numbers. The fact that they received no assistance from the security services allowed the gunmen to abduct them.

The event was reported to our correspondent in Lafia on Monday by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state police public relations officer, who also stated that efforts were being made to save the chief and his wife without any injuries.
"I like to confirm that approximately 10 o'clock on August 6, 2023, the Nasarawa State Police command received a distress call that the palace of the Chief of Gurku town, which is located 10 kilometers from Mararaba's main town in a mountainous location, had been invaded by individuals thought to be kidnappers.
"Upon learning of the incident, Maiyaki Baba, the commissioner of police, immediately sent a team of police officers and vigilantes to the scene.
"Upon arrival, it was found that the Chief and his wife had been taken captive and taken to an unidentified location. The nearby bushes and mountains were searched, but no luck was had in finding them.
The anti-kidnapping squad, additional tactical team members, and police officers from the Karu area command have all been sent to the spot by the police commissioner in an effort to save the Chief and his wife's lives.
