NBA Opens Investigation Into Judge Bribery Case, Alleged Sexual Assault Against UNICAL Law Dean.

A committee has been established by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to investigate claims of sexual assault made against Prof. Cyril Continue Reading 

The organization is also investigating the claim that Justice Flora Azinge of the Kano-based State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal and National Assembly attempted to be bought off.

In attendance, according to a statement issued by the NBA on Saturday, were the association's national officers and NBA President Yakubu Maikyau (SAN). The choice was chosen by the National Executive Committee (NEC) at its most recent monthly meeting.

In view of recent events involving accusations of professional misconduct against some members of the legal profession, it reads, "We think it necessary to update you on some actions that have been taken by the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

"The NBA has agreed to examine into the sexual assault claims made against Prof. Cyril Ndifo, dean of the law faculty at the University of Calabar.

 The NBA NEC subsequently appointed an ad hoc committee to look into the allegations against the University Don, which included the NBA's 1st Vice President, Mrs. Linda Rose Bala, the NBA's Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Daniel Kip, the Chairperson of the NBA Women's Forum, and the Chairman of the NBA Calabar Branch.

It also alluded to the purported attempt to bribe Kano-based Justice Flora Azinge of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

In a letter dated August 16, 2023, it was claimed that the NBA had formally requested more information in this regard from his lordship in order to conduct an investigation into this claim.

The National Officers also talked about the unethical conduct of some legal experts.

According to the statement, the NBA has petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) on behalf of Ifunanya Excel Grant, a young attorney from the Aba Branch who is infamously known online as "the baddest lawyer," and Mr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
