The student was accused of falsifying her results by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in a statement released by its spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, but Mmesoma maintained that she received a score of 362 out of a possible 400.
Benjamin disclosed that according to the board's records, the applicant had sent a number of messages to its automated telecoms system, including those with results totaling 362.
Following that, JAMB imposed a 3-year suspension on the student from Anambra State, a decision that received mixed reviews.
Mmesoma stated that she shouldn't be held responsible for the incident while making an appearance with her father on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.
It's not my fault that I printed my results that way, and I don't know why they said I faked them. I don't deserve this. So, their decision of banning it is unfair, she argued.
Mmesoma claimed that despite sending an SMS to JAMB via its support system, she received no answer.
"I merely sent that one SMS there. They remained silent. They would be able to see that I sent a text message if they checked their JAMB Support System. They remained silent.
"When all was said and done, I discovered that I received 249. To let them know what actually transpired, I sent them a text message through the JAMB Support System. They will be able to see it in their system if they log in.
The outcome displayed by Mmesoma has been referred to as being out of date by Benjamin.
The candidate simply fabricated a replica of a result slip for a candidate named "Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle" who took the UTME in 2021 and scored 138. The board wants to reassure Nigerians that their system was neither tampered with nor compromised.
The candidate accidentally revealed the rightful owner of the result she is praising when she pointed out that the QR code on the result slip showed the actual owner of the said result before she peddled a lie in an effort to obscure the truth, Benjamin said.
The JAMB spokesman made the following statement regarding a video Mmesoma released to try to explain herself in the midst of the growing controversy; If you look at her posture—look at the video very carefully—if you look at the video critically, you will see that somebody is coaching her on what to say. Just take a seat and watch the video that she posted.
