DCP Abba Kyari was granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja despite being suspected of money laundering.Read Original.

Kyari is being held in prison without bail on a primary accusation of cocaine trafficking as well as a money laundering charge.

On his Facebook page, Hamza N. Dantani, one of his attorneys, said on Thursday that the court had granted Kyari bail on the accusations of money laundering.

"Alhamudullhi!" he wrote. Today in Abuja, the Federal High Court granted Abba Kyari's bail.

Remember that the $61,400 in cash and the 25kg parcel of cocaine that were collected as evidence and allegedly used as bribes to influence agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are at the center of Kyari's trial.

The NDLEA claims that Kyari attempted to bribe a senior agency official with $61,400 at an Abuja restaurant in order to stop the testing of some of the cocaine that had been found connected to two people who had been arrested for drug trafficking.

He is also being looked into after being charged with fraud involving Instagram star Ramon Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States of America.

NDLEA issued a wanted notice for Kyari on February 14, 2022, and he was detained as a result over alleged drug link.

Kyari's bail request was denied by Justice Nwite of the Federal High Court due to charges of cocaine trafficking.

The Court of Appeal also denied the bail motion.
