The 2023 BET Awards, which were presented at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, were hosted by Nigerian music icons Burna Boy and Tems.

Rap legends KRS1, Big Daddy, and Fat Joe gave outstanding performances at the event, which honoured 50 years of hip-hop on June 26, 2023.

Throughout the performance, Nigerian superstar Davido took the stage and captivated the crowd with his number-one song "Unavailable." This was the second year in a row that an Afrobeats performer appeared at the main event, following Fireboy's appearance previous year.

In recognition of his tremendous contributions to the international music scene, Burna Boy received the Best International Act award.

The Best International Act honour was given to Burna Boy in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the world music landscape. In addition, Tems won the Best Collaboration prize for the second consecutive year, honouring her outstanding contributions to Future's song "Wait For U."
