2023: The kidnapped Benue commissioner finally released

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development of the Benue State Government, Ekpe Ogbu, who had been kidnapped, has been set free.

SP Catherine Anene, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), made the announcement on the command's media platform on Tuesday evening that the release of the commissioner had been confirmed.

It was stated earlier that the captors initiated discussions and sought N5 million ransom for the hostage they had taken.

On Saturday, the commissioner was said to have been taken hostage near the Adankari Junction, which is located on the Otukpo-Ado Road.

The police in Otukpo found the Hilux van that the victim was traveling in on Saturday, and the state administration has promised to rescue the commissioner without injuring him. They also indicated that the vehicle that the victim was traveling in had been found.
