We were happy to see you removed as APC National Chairman since... Wike tells Oshiomhole

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has revealed to Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, how members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, celebrated his (Oshiomhole's) removal as chairman of the APC. Wike told Oshiomhole that PDP members threw parties, drank, and ate.

The statement was made by Wike on Wednesday in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom Flyover in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state. Wike stated that Oshiomhole posed a threat to the most prominent opposition party.

On Wednesday, Oshiomhole presided over the commissioning of the project that the governor of Rivers had been responsible for executing.

Wike claims that the removal of Oshiomhole from his position as chairman of the opposition party by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on March 4, 2020 was a relief for the party, and he emphasizes that they are now satisfied.

The governor, on the other hand, bemoaned the fact that certain powerful figures in Nigerian politics consistently work to undermine the authority of capable leaders.

He made the statement that Nigerians dislike anything that is too straightforward. They will find a way around it to ensure that the person who wants to do the right thing is eliminated, but the timing that God chooses is always the best, and I believe that this is the timing that God has chosen.

"Even though we were extremely thrilled about it at the time because you were too powerful for us, it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for God's blessing on it.

"Sometimes the opposition is at a loss for what to say next. Therefore, on the day that you were removed, we thanked God for removing this troublesome individual and said thank you. He has caused a great deal of discomfort for us. You can see how relaxed we have become at this point.

In the midst of the leadership turmoil that has been rocking his party, the PDP, Governor Wike had extended multiple invitations to various stakeholders of the ruling party to commission projects in the state.

His colleague in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, visited the state on August 8 to put the finishing touches on the Orochiri-Worukwo flyover in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state.
