Due to an injury, Reece James, a defender for Chelsea, will not be traveling to Qatar with the England national team for the 2018 World Cup.
According to Sky Sports, the decision was made on Tuesday after consultations with manager Gareth Southgate.
It was determined that the fullback has not recovered sufficiently from the knee injury he sustained against AC Milan in the Champions League last month. The injury occurred during the match between the two teams.
James took a flight to Dubai in order to participate in a rigorous rehabilitation program in the hopes of being well enough to compete in Qatar.
In recent days, he has even attempted some shaky runs at the Cobham training field, which is owned and operated by Chelsea.
However, Southgate has been forced to inform James that he will not be able to risk putting him in the 26-man squad that will be named on Thursday. This choice was not an easy one for Southgate to make.
